A computer diagnostics test is a form of electronic diagnosis used to assist us in isolating a fault with your car on computer controlled systems. It is a non-invasive diagnostic prodedure much like an X-ray or an MRI scan. The test may be inconclusive and further investigation/testing may be required at additional cost.

We will plug in using your cars on board diagnostics port (if fitted) & interrogate the vehicles ECU (electronic control unit). Any fault codes will then be printed out with our computer diagnostics tool. It may also be possible on some vehicles using the latest computer diagnostics equipment to carry out live data monitoring whilst driving your car.

For very intermittent faults on some cars we have a special ECU monitoring device which is fitted to your car for a period of time (up to 1 week) & upon its return we are able to connect the device to our diagnostics computer to download any additional faults your ECU has been unable to record (additional cost/deposit applies).
We will then, if possible simplify any stored fault codes, or advise if the test was inconclusive and the vehicle requires further investigation work.

The computer diagnostics check is £70 inc. VAT.

Please note: We only charge if we are able to gain access to your vehicles ECU. If we cannot gain access then we will not charge you. In some instances a main dealer diagnostics may be required as the manufacturers/main dealers will not provide the unlock codes required. Also note: It is not possible to diagnose all electrical faults or problems with your car using the computer diagnostics testing procedures.
