As part of the Autocentre Group, we’re a trusted, family-run independent garage with decades of experience in MOTs, servicing, repairs, and auto-electrical work. From our original Basingstoke location to multiple sites across Hampshire, we’ve continued to grow in size and expertise. Combined with our customer-first approach, this ensures a level of service and care that sets us apart.
Our History
Our journey began over 20 years ago at our original Essex Road site. In 1997, we made a major investment in modern equipment, staff training, and computer systems to keep pace with the evolving automotive industry, and the business was rebranded as Basingstoke Autocentre.
As our reputation grew, so did demand, prompting expansion. In 2002, we opened the Lennox Road MOT & Tyre Centre, followed by the Wade Road MOT & Tyre Centre as our success continued.
In Spring 2012, we extended further into Hampshire with the opening of our Farnborough MOT & Tyre Centre, and in early 2016, we proudly launched the Winchester MOT & Tyre Centre. Today, each of our locations continues to uphold the same high standards of service, expertise, and customer care that have driven our growth from the very beginning.
Our Pricing Strategy
Some garages charge the full MOT fee while offering “free” extras like wiper blades or light bulbs. But why pay for things your car may not even need? Statistics show only 1 in 6 cars require a new light bulb and 1 in 12 need a wiper blade or minor adjustment. Being a multi-site independent garage brings real benefits. We’re not tied to a single supplier, so we can switch to get the best prices. We also avoid costly TV advertising campaigns, meaning the savings go straight to you, our customer.
Our Staff
All our MOT testers are fully trained, qualified, authorised, and regulated by the government body, the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency). This means every MOT is carried out independently by a nominated tester approved by the MOT governing body. Both our testers and garage undergo multiple unannounced independent spot checks each year, including visits by mystery shoppers, ensuring the highest standards are always maintained.
For more complex diagnostic or electrical work, we also provide a full range of garage repairs, including servicing, brakes, clutches, batteries, computer and engine diagnostics. Our team is highly experienced, with technicians trained to an advanced technical level to handle larger or more complicated repairs. All staff are fully qualified, and to maintain this high standard of expertise, we only ever have one apprentice at a time.
Warranty & Guarantees
All our tyres are EU-approved, fully guaranteed, and sourced directly in the UK to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety. If a tyre develops a fault due to workmanship or materials, we will replace it with a brand-new equivalent tyre for up to three years, regardless of remaining tread or mileage. Each claim is carefully verified through specialist investigation by the manufacturer to confirm the defect, giving you complete peace of mind.
Additionally, we are registered with The Motor Ombudsman, providing our customers with added reassurance that any issues will be handled fairly and professionally.
Environmental
We take our environmental responsibility seriously and continually work to reduce our impact. All oil filters are disposed of safely and in full compliance with environmental regulations, and our garage is fully licensed to store oil and used filters on-site for future recycling. We also ensure all waste tyres are recycled, helping to reuse materials and minimise our environmental footprint.
In addition, we regularly review our processes and equipment to identify opportunities for greater sustainability, reflecting our ongoing commitment to protecting the environment while providing high-quality garage services.
